I have a 1981 7045 powershift that slips in high range, especially reverse. I've eliminated the torque limiter being the problem: The pto stays running if i put transmission in a high gear and hold the brakes. The engine lugs down but tractor doesnt move. Low range seems to be fine, and will almost kill the engine. Any other things i can check before i take it to dealer?

If your going to take it to a dealer then the only thing I know to check first is your bank account. I guess you are lucky to have a dealer to work on it. There's not a dealer anywhere in my area that would work on an Allis.

You must have a powerdirecter trans. not a powershift. What is the HP on your tractor?

there is no difference in low range to high except higher 2 speed rear end speed which puts a higher load on the 6 speed when trying to overpower the brakes. Warm up the oil, put the rpms to the point that the 1800 rpm light just goes out. Then shift through all the gears with the tractor in park. The light should come on then go off the same in all gears. IF it stays on in one gear, that is the faulty clutch pac in use. Does the PTO slow down when the clutch is slipped? IF so - that is the issue - torque limiter. The pto may not stop - just slow down.
