Finally got around to doing a little bit on my C. Got the one tire swapped around that was on the rim backward. Got the wheels spaced out for cultivating. Fixed the muffler. Replaced the front rims and wheel bearings. Rebuilt the carb and got the fuel starving problem fixed. Got the front and rear cultivator carriers and frames on. Still need one set of chisel point sweeps and the three shanks for the rear, but that is pretty good progress I think. Also got the hydraulics working pretty good. I love seeing a girl ready to work. Looking pretty is fine, but I like knowing she can get down to business too.      |

You have really done some good work. The C is a real neat cultivating tractor. Handles so easy.

Dream, you accomplished a lot on your C! I enjoyed the pictures - it looks pretty tough with the wheels turned that way. Good point about the steering box - it'd be nice to not have the front end wandering around, especially when cultivating. ------------- WC, CA, D14, WD45 |

Charlie, my grandad told me never to look down at what I was cultivating, look ahead at the front wheel and keep it where you want it. Said the rest of the tractor would follow. I have to look down myself, or I probably wouldn't have anything left by the time I got to the end of the row.LOL!
Dave, I do like the rears turned all the way out. Looks a lot more agressive, and is necessary for the rear tool bar lower lift arms to clear. I still need to adjust on my front lift arms a little bit, and I am having trouble with the front lift push rod assist springs causing the rear bar to not lower all the way. I will probably take the springs off. My grandad never had his on. All it does is keep down-pressure on the front cultivators. I don't need that, they will do just fine with their own weight pushing down. As for the steering box, i'm just going to put the Ross box from my sons' parts tractor on thtis one. It has around half a round of slop in the steering wheel before the bellcrank starts moving. I probably couldn't get all of that out by replacing the bushings,etc. in the Gemmer box. I need to put the correct steering wheel on it anyway, and replace the bent steering shaft tube.(looks like she may have gone bottoms-up at some point and bent all of that).

| I don't remember at what age Dad (let me) start to cultivate corn. I would guess probly ten but the C was the tractor. No hydraulics and I had to stop the tractor and use all my weight and both hands to pull the lever back. I was tall but skinny. |

| DickL, I was probably 10 myself. Luckily, we had hydraulics on my grandads' C. Got to do a little work on it. My dad said he broke one of the lift rod ends off the other day cultivating the corn. |

I spent a lot of time cultivating corn with the C. We had hydraulics. Dad would cultivate everything else, tomatoes, water melons, cantelope, pumpkins, squash and gourds, but made me do the corn! Still is a great memory looking back to those times.
I don't think you need to worry about the wobble. You probably won't be going fast enough to not be able to keep up with it! ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |
