Did the D-14's use the front slab weights that the WD,WD45, D-15,D-17 and D-19 used? I was looking at Tony Carbaugh's web site and the weight brackets are not listed for the D-14's. Thanks, Dave.

Never seen any for a 14. I think they are narrower than the other tractors you listed, so the weights would not fit.

the D-14 WILL CARRY MORE WEGHT ACCORDINGLY THAN A WD-WD45 FROM EXPERIENCE WHEN FARMING 4 ROW CULT ,PLANTER ETC. THE 14 IS NOT NEAR AS LITE AS THE WD45 WAS

The D-14 never used the front slab weights. The frame is narrower than a d-15 or d-17. I don't remember exactly how much narrower, maybe 1 or 2 inches. You can put a weight bracket on a d-14, but you have to put spacers between the frame of tractor and the weight bracket.

I'm intrigued by Norm's comment - according to the Data Book, D14 weighed 4,200# while the WD45 weighed almost 4,500#. So the D14's ability to carry more weight was something other than tractor weight!

I understand what Norm is talking about. Having no farming experience, but having owned both D-15/WD-45 the D-14/15 platform makes you feel lower and more grounded is the best I can describe. I miss my old 15', I'm gettin real close to the 175 now, I really like it's platform, heavily weighted, just like a tank.

With 3 boys in the carryall, the front end is a little squirmy. The way they put away the grocerys, I won't be able to keep it down for long. Dave.

Front wheel weights are shown in the D14 parts book as being the only weights offered for the front end by the factory. Although I have never run a WD or WD45 much, I believe the comments about the 14 handling rear mounted implements better. The D14 torque tube is a very heavy unit, as it is filled with Power Director and PTO gearing as well as the hydraulic pump. Along with the fact that the operator's position is ahead of the rear axle, it makes sense to me that the D14 would be better balanced despite the weight difference from the WD/WD45.

I thought all D14's came with a trip loader in place of the weights....

Eldon has the right idea, I can put a loader on front and fill it with grocerys to keep these Guys going for the day. Dave.
