I have a wd with what I thought was a bad hydraulic pump ,I had a parts tractor on the farm that I never ran and switched out pumps and still nothing , the cam that runs the pump is functioning ok and I have the proper fluid in it, could it be a second bad pump ? is there A way to prime it? or do I need to ? I cracked the fittings while the tractor was running and nothing, The fluid went from clear to looking like it was cloudy with air bubbles , any ideas |

I tell people that it's better to rebuild your pump than you install another used one. Usually the used one has problems too. Go through your owners manual and make sure all your linkage is adjusted correctly. After that, get a service manual and start checking things. Most likely you have some broken check valve springs. While you're at it. buy a 5000psi hydraulic pressure gauge and put an end on it to plug into your remote outlet so you can check pressure. You can't tell what's happening if you can't check your pressure. I have mine off for the 4th time right now. I think I have it narrowed down to a bad relief valve. Bought a good used one to install and try. |

Welcome to the BEST forum on the internet!! Yes, #1 is to check your linkage to make sure it is set WHERE it is supposed to be. Do you have a manual?? If NOT, that is the FIRST thing to do. Theere are a LOT of threads on here about this. All you need to do is search. If after you get the manuals and you need help, all you have to do is ask. You can also PM me and I will try to help you out. These are really easy machines to work on. Don't be afraid to ask questions or try what is suggested. I once was scared to do anything on these, but with all the help on here it is pretty easy after all. Don't be afraid to work on these and don't be afraid to ask. | My pumps lift fairly decent, noisy but do lift , On all my wd's and also my 45's wont hold the load steady.--it either goes up or down on its own.---as near as I can tell the valves are screwed in OR out as per specs but none of them will hold at needed height.---I fought the plow and bushogger last fall, just to get things done before bad weather and this spring I gotta fix something,--just don't know where to start or what to do! thanks; ac fleet |

| Always start by going through the owners manual and adjusting linkage. The springs behind the quadrant need to be good and the friction blocks need to be good. The spring behind the quadrant put pressure on the friction block and keep the lever from creeping up. A broken spring will let the lever and plow creep out of the ground causing you to hold the lever all the time. If you're curious, ask me how I know... |

| Best thing is to get both an owners and service manual. Both of these together explain all the workings of the pumps. Can be bought on e-bay or from site vendors for about $20 each. |

 I had one that was not pumping. Spring on top was broke. I think you just take out a bolt or screw to get to it.
