I can get some good used, hard,70% tread 13.6x38 rears for the D17. Or a pair of 15.5x38 Generals that are 7 years old but never mounted. They have been inside the whole time, dont know how hard they are. Just wondering if the 13.6 will be enough tire. I hope the motor will make about 55-60 HP.

Use the 15-5's on wide rim that is the most common tire were we pull until you get into heavier classes we wouldn't even consider a 13-6 but that doesn't mean there isn't a certain track somewhere they would do good.

We will be pulling in the 4500 lb class. It looks like we will be going with the 13.6's. I can buy the whole tractor for $800, then get $600 for scrap after I take the rear tires and wheels off of it. We may have to remove some more Allis casting to make weight if we go with the 38's. Would a 13.6x38 on a stamped rim be any heavier than a new 16.9x28 on a powershift rim and centre.

Brian, I think the stamped 38" steel rim will be the lightest. You need to find a stamped 38" rim from a Massey 33 or 44 with the 8 bolt pattern. I have 14.9 x 38 PS rims on my D-17 iv diesel and the few times I pulled it, I had lots of traction.

Calvin; The tires and wheels are coming off of a 400 Belarus. From the picture the look like stamped rims. Hope they are not cast.

Here is a picture of the wheels, after blowing up the picture they do look like stamped rims.

Brian, I pull with 13.6x38 stamped steel rims on my 45 and I can get into the 2500 to 3500lb class and the 3500 to 4500.
Works really well. You will need every bit of your 50 or so horsepower !!!!

Brring it to Milverton this fall.

Zyta; We are setting up a trailer to pull behind the 85 Ford cube van that I bought from the local fire dept. It has 53000 orig KM or 33000 miles. It has a good working 351 Windsor, will work better when I get a Performer intake and a 600 Holley on it. Might even get ambishish and put a Lunati cam and some shorty headers. I have it licenced for 22,000 lbs, so I will be able to haul the D15 and D17 together. I see your pull is on Sat, is there any pulls around you on the Friday night. Would like to make it a good trip, it is 200 miles from here. Do they have a local truck class.

I don't think theres much else on that weekend around the area. Maybe we can get Calvin out to the pull as well. I am hoping to bring out the 45 with Buda 262 in it.
