Anyone with some insight please. I have a wd45 block with a crankshaft casting number of 226231-L. I believe it is a 4.5" stroke but I have atleast .5" distance at TDC before the piston would be at max stroke of the cylinder. Thats also with an A&I Products flattop piston.

If its a 4" stroke or 4.5" stroke by telling the distance of the piston traveling.

the number on the crank is 226 that pretty much tells its a 4.5 stoke crank . but yes you can measure the pistons travel to . If you have a 4.5 stroke 4 inch bore and youre flat top piston is just 1/2 inch below deck at tdc . you will have a 9.2.1 comp. ratio.

The 226 in the part numbers probably denotes a 226 cu in which would be a 4.5 stroke crank. The 4 in stroke engine was a 201cu in. The head is flat so there has to be some space left at the top of the stoke.

If its trully 1/2 inch down from the top of the deck at tdc with a 4.125 bore .042 figured for gasket crush 4.25 gasket bore with a 4.5 stroke ,flat top piston with no valve reliefs the cr would be 9.26.1
