hey guys im new to working on tractors, but have bought a 1948 b model a/c I have read some stuff about rebuilding the motor and other things ,but heres my question, I found the serial number by the gear shifter, it shows b575 then a space and 12 at the far right side so now im not sure of the year ,anyone that maybe able to steer me in the right direction as the correct year would be helpful thanks

Dano, I assume this is a small farm tractor model B... On this site it is not called a garden tractor, but a farm tractor. You should repost in the farm tractor section. The serial numbers were hand stamped. The space between the 575 and 12 is just human error....... your number is  B57512.  The motors are very similar from 1940 up thru the late 1950s. The piston diameter  changed slightly and older models may have the larger size. Many tractors have been "changed" over the years so the model year is not really important. Post in the "farm tractor" page and put in a photo if you can. Ask all the questions you want. Plenty of answers here.

Do you have an electric starter ?  foot brakes or hand brakes ?  Generator ? Hydraulics ?

thanks for answering, yes it has elec start foot brakes and gen im new to this site as well as working on tractors but thanks for your info
