Does anyone know the torque setting for connecting rod nut for 226 engine..I looked it up says 45-55ft lbs with locknut or 70 ft lbs with castle nut..Is this the rod castle nut or locknut.. just stumped now. Having a moment of CRS!!!

That is a castle nut. The slots are for wire tying through the hole in the bolt.

Thats what I was thinking but upon looking at the rod bolts I see no holes to lock the nuts..

That is An old style lock nut that was used back then.

so I should be ok to torque them to 45-55 and be done with them??

Typically lock nuts are replaced  after each use. After the nut has been on and off its locking qualities diminish.
