could someone please post a picture of what a good condition but used babbitt bearing should look like( I am asking because my neighbor has a wd that he would like to build into a pulling tractor he says it has babbitt bearings I am not sure of that I would look into this before I start helping him seriously with the build) but before I do this I need to know what good babbitt looks like compared to bad thank you

A "WD" has precision micro-babbit REPLACEABLE bearing shells like a car. I don't understand why he thinks otherwise.

If he wants more HP from a WD, the first part he needs to invest in is a WD-45 crankshaft, with which you'll want new main and rod bearings anyway.
