Is there a common off the shelf piston-sleeve combo that can be used for a big bore set up. Just trying to see if there is a economical approch to this without ordering custom sleeves and pistons. Thanks,JM

if you stroke it or us a 8 inch rod either chrysler or h rod a 413 chrysler piston makes for a 4.188 bore . A 427 chevy truck piston has to be for the 10.2 tall deck engine . it will make a 4 1/4 bore .

Can the allis sleeves be bored out to 4.25? If so, will they hold up ok?

I have a source for internation 466 sleeves and pistons. They are 4.3 bore, I am going to take my WC engine apart Friday and take some measurements to see if those are useable. How much hp will I gain by going to 4.25 or 4.3 with a 4.5 stroke?

a 4.3 bore would be a 261 cubic inch motor . Depending on what you did compression ratio wise would also determine the hp but if you stayed at 8.1 the cubic inches should make 5 to 20 extra ponies. you can times that by 2 if you get into drag racing engine compression ratios then times it by 2.5 with some cam upgrades.

Bottom line before pricing and having to chage 20 other things on the engine to make work with what you want or trying to do is,How much do you want to SPEND !!!!!!! Then go from there and ask what kind of HP can I get for this MONEY!!!!!!!!

I agree with fred dr allis and skip even if they were brand new sleeves and gave to you . They could possibly be the cost of turning the out sides of the sleeve down and the boring of the block to accept the sleeve . Which trust me is alot of work . I personally wouldnt do a 4 5/8 or a 4 11/16 bore for less than 1600 labor cause its like boring three big blocks by the time you get there. the 413 chrysler piston can be used and old sleeves bored safely relatively cheap you have to have the rod journals turned down to the h farmall rod and it makes relatively low compression for a pulling engine at 10.1.1.
