It seems like the starter spins pretty fast on my (new to me) 1956 WD45.  I'm wondering if it is a 6 volt or 12 volt starter?  Are there some numbers stamped somewhere that will tell?  tx...........O_O

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

If it is an original starter it was made for 6 volt. The starter don't care about the voltage as long as you let it cool in between attempts to start. Don't hold the starter engaged for more than a few seconds.
