Should have about 1" of free play on clutch pedal,if not remove pin at clutch pedal and turn rod to adjust.

On a D17/D19 the length of the clutch pedal rod only controls how far back the pedal comes with your foot off of it. There needs to be "freeplay"(distance between the throwout brg and fingers) yes, but that is adjusted with the finger height of the pressure plate up inside the bellhousing. Generally, if the finger height was adjusted properly when the clutch was installed, it never needs to be adjusted again. If the clutch is slipping, it's probably worn out (unless it's oil soaked).....that is assuming that there is still a little bit of freeplay. As long as the throwout brg isn't touching the fingers with your foot off of the pedal, that would be considered freeplay.
