Had a guy come to me and ask what was leaking around his bellhousing on his 8010. He thought it was a hose, turns out its coming out of the bellhousing, and its hydraulic oil. I'm thinking its the transmission input shaft seal. Now im wondering if you can split the engine from the tractor and get to it from there. I was looking in an IT manual and it looked as though you had to pull the guts out of the transmission from the rear? Thanks for the help. It may be a little while til I get to it, as I'm working on our 7000 right now, but I need to tell him something. Thanks, -Wes

As you have already suspected,split the tractor behind the engine.The input shaft seal is easily accessed in the front of the tranny.A small round plate with four 3/8 capscrews and its off.The seal isn't very big so it shouldn't be real expensive.May need the gasket behind the plate also.Check torque limiter and rear crank seal while in there.

I had a problem with my 7000's input shaft seal leaking, and the bearings were good too, so I just doubled up the seals in the housing. Not sure if the 8010 has a deep enough housing to do this, but it may be an idea. I just packed grease between the seals.

My neighbor's 8030 PS started leaking there, and he put some JB product in the tranny, and that took care of it. A couple of years ago, our 8050 PS was leaking there also, so we took it to town to the local shop, he split it and put a new seal in. It did take care of the leak, but we could see absolutely nothing wrong with the old seal, so point being, I think the JB stuff would have fixed ours as well. I don't generally promote products such as that, but I think it may the answer in this situation.
