I am looking at purchasing a Woods belly mower for a CA. I need all the information for purchasing. What models? Weak points? Average price? Parts still available, if so, where to get them? Etc, Etc... If some body could post a few pictures of one installed for a CA would be great. This way I know how it hooks up and the brackets that are needed. Thanks

Buy A woods L-306. they are still being made you can get a brand new one from a local woods dealer. They will have to oder it. make sure you get the optinal Manual lift. and the front guide wheels. The same mower will fit a C .  I'll try to get a picture tommorow. you can go to the Woods site and down load the complete manual. It will have mounting instructions. and a Parts breakdown of the mower.

L59 or L306 is what you want. They are left handed rotation which is needed to mount and operate correctly on a B,C or CA Allis. If you have the 3 piece "push bar" the mower will fit all 3 of these tractors. The mounting plates are circled in red, they carry the bar that pushes the mower. The belt idlers are also mounted on this bar. If the push bar is one piece it will either fit a B or the C and CA.

I have an L59 on a B and a L306 on one of my WD's.  Love them both.  I rebuilt the spindals in both last summer, so they should last the rest of my life. I had the 306 on a CA earlier; cant' be a woods mower on any AC, they mow fabulous.

BV, I priced one about 20 years ago and they wanted about $1500 for the mower with gage wheels and mounts. I was doing some work at the Woods plant near Oregon,Il once and was told of 2 of them out back that had to be cut up for scrap. It seems they sat on a dealers lot and got rusty looking so they were sent back to the factory to be scrapped. Just about made me sick.

The CA with a Woods L306 is one of the best mowing systems I have come accross. The axle clutch is a great asset for live power to the mower. AND the CA burns between 1/2 to 1 gallon of fuel per hour when mowing (thats a lot of area when one is making a 6' cut and running 2/3 throttle in 3rd gear).

I just finished up mounting my L306 on my CA. Sorry, no pictures. My mower has a lift that works off the right rear lift ram. One needs to reverse the ram (point the ram forward) onto a pin already on the CA (right side), there is an extension piece that pins to the end of the ram and to one end of a swivel arm that mounts on the forward right implement boss on the torque tube. My CA has the square hitch and pin style drawbar.

My procedure for mounting the L306 (same works for the L59). Remove the square hitch and drawbar assy. Reverse the right side lift ram. Install the lift extension and swivel arm. Install the mower rear support between the finals. Install the square hitch; place the left lift ram in the top hole, and point the lift arms down. Then raise the square hitch, pin the hitch arm support braces and pin the hitch into the arms. Then slide the mower assembly under the tractor (I usually end up jacking up on side of the front of the tractor to accomplish this). Slide the mower back until the mower arms slide into the rear bracket arms. Lift the rear of the mower and pin the arms into place. It may take some trial and error to determine which hole to pin the mower to the rear bracket (I have settled on 3 in and 3 up). Install the belt (good to have the instruction page for this as the belt has several twists). Attach the lift chain and tighten the belt (really tight...and check it out quite often when using a new belt as they will stretch). I can take some photos of the setup later today and post them if that would help explain the procedure better.
