To me, it dries up and the clay doesnt hook good and spins out easy. Usually with the light classes, its not going away that quick ------------- '40 WC puller,'50 WD puller,'50 M puller '65 770 Ollie *ALLIS EXPRESS contact* I can explain it to you, BUT I cannot understand it for you!! |

well boys my grandpa is half owner of the local pulling club, so i do a fair amount of track maintenance. i will tell you if you knew how finicky a track is to prepare you would have a huge amount of appreciation they can get it to stick for 15 minutes. we have had the track so hard one year that when tires spun on it they didnt dig in they left black marks!!! like it was on pavement. the problem is you can add water either or the pullers will whine their is an unfair advantage to other pullers. kind of get stuck in a rock and a hard place, and wearing my otter creek puller association shirt i attract a lot of whiners and complainers ------------- hi my names dan, I am a young guy. i have a problem, i prefer my tractors orange and my clutches mechanical, thanks for letting me share |

| Tracks can go both ways they can get rutted up, they can get dry and dusty, when you get to some of the evening pull that are cool and damp they start building a road and by the end of the nite the last tractors in the class all get full pulls. |

We shoot our selves in the foot the ground our track is at its owned by the elevator so it gets replanted with grass and then tiled up when we use it. Would be alot easier if they left it tilLed. After 15 plus years I would dare say they have experience to get it right for most of the pull ------------- hi my names dan, I am a young guy. i have a problem, i prefer my tractors orange and my clutches mechanical, thanks for letting me share |

| The thing I love about pulling is no matter how good or bad a track is it doesn't matter because everybody is pulling on the same track. And that's what I would tell them too when the started to cry about it. |

I have see tracks that seemed fantastic at the start and after a few pulls it gets a soft spot that the sled will start to sink down and start to stop the tractors in the same spot. Even a soft spot develop where the tractors stop getting thru that was not there at the start. Very difficult to prepare an outdoor track that will stay the same for several hours with several weight class. |
