Dseries4    Can those seals be changed without spliting the tractor.I am going to be painting a d17 for a guy that has the seal leaking and he thought that it would have to be split and I was not sure and I just have not had a chance to look into it yet  But saw this post and thought  I would ask someone how knows.

No you dont have to split tractor to put new orings on the power director lever cross shaft, as a matter of fact the shaft has to come out before you split the tractor.  You may be able to remove the lever and snap ring and move the shaft out of the housing just enough to put on a new oring, then move it the other way and replace the oring on the other side.  A D19 has the hi pro keys on the inside so the shaft will slide on the PD shift lever,   early D17s have a set screw on the inside so youll have to remove it to slide the shaft far enough to change orings.    Good Luck.
