Does anyone know what material the lift latches are made from on a WD?  They look to be cast iron, but could be cast steel.  One of mine has a broken ear and I need to know what to weld it with.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks!

Aaron, get yourself a known piece of cast iron and a piece of steel. Take turns shoving them into a grinding wheel and take note of the sparks that come off. Once you are familiar with what the sparks look like on each, grind on the spot that needs welding to tell what kind of material it is. I would bet on steel as a forging would be much stronger than a casting. Charlie
