Many thanks to Mlpankey and Kev/Ont who helped me with my high revving 45.  I did make a discovery, though.  I have a governor spring that according to the fellas who rebuilt it "will rev that motor to 2200 rpm's".  I do use this tractor for pulling so I have to keep my rpm <1890 rpm.  Right now, it turns 1855 but the cost is my hand throttle has about 4" of movement.  Rather than having the usual governor "snap" that Allis' have, mine is now more sluggish.  But when under a load, my carb is definitely opening up, which is different than last year because I was adjusting the rpm's on the carb side and the rod was not allowing the carb to open.  Am I ok with this setup, or am I missing some info?  I have a pull next weekend out of town to get the bugs out.  I got my brakes smoking yesterday trying to stop that 45 going up a hill, seems strong...any suggestions?  Happy Easter everyone!

some of the govenor covers have a bolt that will act as a stop that keeps the rpms in check . also if you had 2200 rpms at full throttle you could always run it at 3/4 reduce throttle and be around the rpm range you desire. be the same as the throttle not letting you pull it to full open.

Also keep in mind that the 2200 rpms is at high idle which is full throttle and no load . that gov. spring under some work load should stay around 1780 to 1800 rpms if it was set correctly with full throttle and some preload on the carb side for the gov. to have a snappy responce.
