My friend has a WD45 diesel that originally did not have power steering.  Now, he has installed a factory power steering unit on it.  As I learned in a previous post, the lever that attaches to the starter motor is different for the factory power steering tractor.  Does anyone have a picture they could send so he can figure out how to make a lever that will work with the power steering unit?  Or better, does someone have one for sale?

Thanks.

I don't know what a non factory power steering one looks like but here is a picture I found of mine before I put it on the tractor, and mine came with factory power steering.  Tom

That is the power steering lever which as you can see extends from the body of the starter at 90 degrees.  The non power steering lever slants toward the front of the starter at about a 45 degree angle, so much so, that it would hit the steering motor.

I wonder why they didn't use the ps style for all tractors?

I appreciated the picture from Tom.  Skip,  I may take you up on your offer.  To respond to Eldon's question, I think the units for PS units would work on all tractors.  However, the first 45 diesels would have hit the market before the factory power steering units were put on them.

I have a 1955 without p/s 45D that does have that lever, glad it's there for when I do put on p/s.  It's also interesting that on the same tractor, all of the pulleys are double sheave.
