Does anyone have an understanding of how the new DOT rules/laws are going to affect the hobby farmer/collector here in Iowa? I've heard stories that we'll be under the same rules as the OTR drivers and will have to have signage with DOT numbers on our pickups etc. I have to haul my tractor and equipment about 20 miles each way to the land I lease. Thanks Steve

Same in mich. But I heard only if over 14000 gvw combined truck and trailer. My truck and trailer is at 11500 empty already. Just fill out dot forms online and use 3 inch min numbers
------------- The problem with reading MLPANKEYS posts, is that they dont make boots that tall.

if it's only 20 miles why not just drive the equipment there?we had farms 10 miles apart and we pulled loads with the tractors all day long all summer long.
------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

How new are you talking. I just looked into all that a couple of months ago, have they been changed since then?

Steve, just call the DOT in Ankeny. They moved out of Park Fair Mall a couple years ago. Tell them what you're doing and using and they will tell you what you need. That way, no questions. If the cop on the side of the road says one thing, you have it from his bosses and can beat him in court.
