How hard is it to put a 301 gas in a 45 diesel frame? It currently had a 230 gas that needs a rebuild and I can get a 301 close to home in running order. I did a search but didn't find much. Thanks for any help.

I spoke with ''Chop'' on Tuesday, unfortunately ,that was while he was in the hospital in Jefferson,Iowa. He has been in recovery from a pretty serious case of infection. He was in Des Moines in intensive care for awhile but is now closer to home for his treatment. It would probably be best to let him heal up and get home before talking to him about this subject. I'm sure he would be glad to talk to you at that time.

Is the grill and hood work the same or did it half to be extended and what bell housing was used and was the frame lengthened and I'm talking bout the wd65

The grille shell has been raised probably 4 inches because there's four retaining bolts on the sides. Hood looks longer. Frame rails look stock to me but steering box been removed for more room for engine/crank pulley. I'd guess maybe a D-230 engine backplate made to fit the D-2900 or a reworked D-2900 backplate. A lot of work. My only criticism is the turbo drain tube....there was a better way than notching the top of the side rail.

Couple of pictures from the build. I think that the hood was custom built by someone from Minnesota.
