I'm considering mounting a Ditch Witch 140 backhoe on my D17. Does anyone know what the hydraulic output is on the D17? The backhoe needs 13gpm.

Make sure the backhoe will take the high pressure of the AC pump.

The series IV has modern full time low pressure high volume hydraulics. I don't know GPM but I would think it might be adequate.

Series IV pump is 10.5 gpm. Not quite enough for your needs.

I don't know why it wouldn't work.....maybe a little slower, but until you get good at running it, that might be a good thing. GPM makes for speed, not power.

I have run a Kelley model 56 with my series IV and it had way more than enough hydraulic capacity. I had to run the tractor at about half throttle or less. The model 56 is the biggest hoe Kelley made, but I don't how it compares to a Ditch Witch. Try it out on your tractor before you buy.

We used to run a JD backhoe with about a 9' stick on our 5050 easily enough. I think the 5050 put out about 10 gpm as well. The 5670 my uncle has now will run it faster, but unless you're really smooth, it'll just bounce you around. Like DrAllis said, gpm is just an indication of how fast it will run it.

Thanks Dave. The DitchWitch is about 7', so I think it will work too. I'll have to get going on it this weekend...suppose to be warm here in Ohio finally.
