I finally got home and got an old share off of my 83 plow with slat bottoms. The part number on the back of the share is 71509804. Can I still get new shares for this plow? Also, can anyone identify the bottom this would have come off of? I need some landslides and a couple of slats for the bottoms also.
Thanks

Nothing like that in my plow bottoms book. See if you can find a number on the frog or a slat or shin. Landsides tended to have fit several bottoms so landside numbers are less definitive.

I looked in the plow book again and no numbers that come close there. I took off a slat and cleaned off the back side. No numbers there either. The book only mentions the 374 bottom as far as slat bottoms go. That would seem to indicate it was the only slat bottom available at the time this plow was purchased. If someone has some 16 inch 374 shares that I could compare bolt hole measurements to, that would help confirm. Are parts still available for this plow?

I am pretty sure that bottom takes an Osmundson OA 16-4 but click on the link to check the bolt patterns. Last I checked that share was still available from them. If your local TSC has anyone on staff that can walk and chew gum (ours doesnt) they can order them. You have to take a bundle and they add truck freight.

You can always redrill the frogs for a share you can get localy. Just last week I converted a plow with #363 bottoms over to a JD metric share. Took all of 30 minutes to drill and install three shares.

The 71 was added by AGCO later, the original number would have had only the last 6 digits. The only share numbers in my book ending in 804 are 308804 for 25 and 325 bottoms, not a slatted bottom. My book is dated 7/68, I know there is at least one later book.
My guess is that a 3xxxxx number was superseded by the 509804 number and then the 71 got stuck on the front to make it 8 digits to match the modern computer plans and to show it was an antique part. Ten years ago or a little more, I acquired an AC 2000 monobeam and needed to identify the bottoms. I called AC at Kansas City and asked for their plow expert and described the plow bottom (three bolts on the shin) and he said it was a 392 and sure enough when I bought shins for a 392 they fit. I don't know they have such an office or expert anymore. We can narrow the share numbers by knowing the size of the bottom, but most AC bottoms used the same mounting holes so the bottoms interchanged well on the plow frames. And when different areas had different tastes in plow shapes AC let the dealer order the bottoms separately and probably they didn't meet until the dealer's or the farmer's shop. Gerald J. |

Butch,
I looked at the website and couldn't find an OA-16-4 plow share, the only AC share they have is for the 387 bottom. Are they any things I can look for that will distinguish the different slat bottoms (like the number of slats, a certain measurement, number of bolts)? I will try to get the bolt measurements tomorrow for the share and maybe someone can match that with a certain share and get a good part number.
Thanks for the help, I am wet behind the ears when it comes to Allis plow bottoms...

The catalog is a bit off they are still listed under Rock shares but not under rib shares. last I knew they were available in rib but not rock. Anyway here is the catalog info under rock shares.
Give them a call, they are real friendly and knowledgable too.

My plow bottoms book doesn't have any dimensions except for long landsides.
The details of the bracing are different between the 364 and 374 slatted bottoms in my book and the frogs have different numbers. If you can show a picture with the bottom laying on the landside looking up at the bottom I can compare it to the drawings in the book. That's the orientation of all the drawings of bottoms. Is it a 16" or a 14" cut? Gerald J. |

All angles but the one in the plow bottoms book.
The bracing is most like a 364 bottom. not like a 374 bottom. So for the blade (or share) it would take a 344188 heavy duty 14" blade with 4 bolt holes or a 344867 economy type 14" blade with 4 bolt holes or a 337904 heavy duty 14" blade with 3 bolt holes or a 344192 heavy duty 16`" blade with 4 bolt holes or a 344868 economy type 16" blade with 4 bolt holes or a 337906 heavy duty 16" blade with 3 bolt holes or 349031 stoney 16" blade with 4 bolt holes (supersedes 345794 and 347437). Landside assembly short is 338006. Fourth slat is 349712 supersedes 331038. Third slat is 349711 supersedes 331037. Second slat is 349710 supersedes 331036. First slat is 331035. Shin is 325547 and the frog is 344202. Gerald J. |
