I previously posted on here that I was converting my 1961 H3 dozer to a negative ground electrical system so I could install an electric winch. I have finished installing the winch so I thought I would post pictures for anybody that might be interested.
The first picture shows the rear of the dozer where I wanted to install the winch. I planned to use the four bolts on the upper rear of the steering clutch housings and the four bolt holes on the vertical parts of the draw bar to anchor the improvised winch mounting plate. This picture shows the winch plate that I had modified/fabricated to provide the connection between the winch and the dozer. Here's the winch mounting plate installed on the dozer. The winch and fair lead installed on the mounting plate before electrical connections are installed. All electrical connections installed at the winch but not yet connected to the dozer battery (sorry don't have a final picture of that...too big of a hurry to try it out ). Happy to report it works like I hoped it would. |
