To me it depends on the tractor.  If it is straight and needs little or no repair, I like to leave them original.  If it needs seals, an overhaul and bearings in places, I go through them.  But I don't make a showroom, museum quality, restoration.  I do more of a preservation restoration because I like to work my tractors once in a while and don't want to worry about a few scratches when I hook up a plow and head for a field or a plow day.

One thing that does bug me is seeing a late forties, fifties or early sixties pick up truck three inches off the ground, Lowering to level, or to make the tires fill out the wheel well, I like, but just hate these slammed things.  But to each his own.

I buy non restored in any ones defections of restored. I then put in the sweat and labor of cleaning repairing replacing till I get one ready for the paint which I do my self also.

My 1951 Massey Harris 44 single front wheel as I found it.

first time pulling after 15 months of work, had to find two new rear hubs, pto shaft and other parts like a matching pair of fenders and rear wheels.

Some day soon I will start on my D 17. It is really ruff and needs a bunch of works but still runs and does loader work I need to do although not as fast as a bigger loader could do it. the whole rig was given to me so I have nothing into it.
