How many of you recall/owned a Motorola Bag Phone back in the late '80's Big smile

I've got a GE Ericcson mobile telephone here, the handset and hanger mounted in the vehicle, the radio system mounted in the trunk, two antennas on the roof... one for transmit, the other receive, full duplex. 120w transmitter, used tubes in the final and driver stages. Receiver was all solid state, dial was touch-tone.

I still have the AudioVox bag-phone I bought when I set up my railway training facility. It wasn't as high-zoot as others, but featured an auxiliary jack that allowed the use of twisted-pair adapter to conventional phones, which made it perfect for setting up my railcars' office, sleeping quarters, and training room with desk-phones.

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

I had a bag phone, bag was full of scraps of paper with phone numbers thot it was "high tec"

I still have the first cell phone I bought, and yes it was the bag phone. Best reception of any phone I’ve had, audio was crystal clear.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Down memory lane again, a friend in 1979 with a shinny new Gleaner MH2 in the custom harvest gameradio/cell phone in cab. The radio/early cell was a party line set up. A grain broker, had a trucking business too. Park a over the road grain trailer in your field, call when full (call a hour before full and no waiting for another) and they bring another. That was per bag phone even.

my mobile phone was a Motorola portable radio, when you got it, you were issued a number and when you wanted to make a call you would push the talk button and a mobile operator would answer you, you would tell her the number or place you wanted to call and she/he would dial it up for you, you could hear it ringing and when they answered you would just press the talk button when it was your turn to talk. had a leather pouch you attached to your belt loop. it was a good phone most of the time, there were a few dead spots here and there, but then all you would do is move around a little and that would solve it. i could make local or long distant calls with it, and just dropped it into a charging unit at night. it worked in the cabs of the farm equipment and because i moved around alot that is why i got the portable unit instead of the fixed phone in my vehicle. oh...and they were 75 watt i think, so it would talk a long ways. the bag phone had more power in them than any of the flip or smart phones we have now. the phone companies tried to get me to give up my bag phone after i got it, i wouldn't budge. kept it as long as the towers would accept its signal.

My cell phone connects to my hearing aids, when it rings I just push a button on my hearing aid in either ear.
