Finished up the brakes on my 175 tilling tractor today, it needed nothing but cleaning up. Someone had put brakes in it recently and gooped up the balls and tracks with anti-seize compound (which caused them to lock up when it was warm and humid enough to get the stuff gooey)....DON'T use anything on the balls when doing the brakes!!!
Now it is on to probably the biggest project, the 175D I bought from the west side last spring. The LH side brake rod is twisted off, which means the cylinder has to be removed to get to the lower pin. I removed the fender and loader frame today and can't even get the spring pin out of the cylinder pin...not a good sign.
![]() Then it is on to my "nice" 175D and D17 SIV high clearance diesel....I should be really good at this by the time I am finished....

Eldon, how does the loader frame connect to the rear axles? I just took the same model off my D17 and it looked like the frame had been modified.

4 hours to get the easy side apart this afternoon.....split a socket and used lots of heat. The pin to the 3pt cylinder came out easier than expected, but was eaten away pretty bad. Hub seal was out and final drive gears are noisey, am putting 185 finals on it. You guys that live in the rust belt can keep your tractors LOL! |

Eldon when you get all your tractors refitted with new brakes come on over and do some of my WD45's. I have two in need of your hands on knowledge of rusty brakes one is a WD45 and one is a D-15II with things hanging out the holes in the bottom of the axle.
