Montgomery is a very neat place to visit. A lot of good history sights to see. The very best in my opinion.

Yeah, Thad I want to do some looking while I can,, I told Jeff I would like to go to Talladega,as it is only bout 60 miles from his house,,,, if they are open,,,also looking to get in some roundy round cause Jeff likes em too. I meant to ask the air travelers on here what I should expect on the airlines,, I think I heard last couple of days ago that the mask mandates have all been lifted,,But being in close quarters on the planes,,I'm going to be wearing my new N95 masks,,,Maybe two at a time,,,,,

Joe if you get to Taledega or Hank Williams memorial and grave please take pics. While we were there we got to see the Alabama state capital and the first White House of the confederacy. I got lots of pics. If you go there make sure to get a pic of the New Mexico state flag.
They’re all there. |

Joe you should know tha tNO Guns are allowed on air planes, unless you want to donated them and pay a fine for trying to carry them on the plane. There is a weight limit on luggage so you had better check and pre wight them at home. When my son flew he said Tuesday was the cheapest day to fly.

We picked out daughter up at the airport this past Saturday, you DO have to wear a mask on a plane or in the airport, we didn't think we needed them to pick her up,we were advised in no uncertain terms we needed a mask if we were in the airport, they did provide us with them for free but yes, airport or airplane you need a mask

Hi Joe, I fly alot. On a plane right now. Mask mandate still in effect but I think it lifts mid-April. I’d only wear one mask……that’s a lot for a long plane ride.
Checked luggage is about 50lbs. You can check 2 on southwest. Most others only one. You can have two carryons…..think backpack or a purse and a small roller bag. Can only carryon 3.2 ounces of any one liquid, including toothpaste and shaving cream. Your meds are all good as long as they’re labeled as prescriptions in your name. Keep as much wearable metal at home…has to come off in security and people lose it all the time. Same w laptops and iPads. My airline of choice is Southwest….cheapest usually, doesn’t cancel last minute and almost always on time. Buy the early bird checkin for each flight; you’ll board early and won’t get stuck in the middle seat next that ole boy that’s using his seat and half of yours if you know what I mean ![]() |

Joe, enjoy the sights on your trips and the time with family. Much better that staying home and working your arse off all the time. I personally don't like flying commercial because of the hassle getting through the airports. Scott has some good advice on what to prepare for. Travel as light as you can.

Well, Scottie,,I'm sure glad you chimed in cause I had NOT thought bout taking a max size Carry-ON with the wheelies and long handle but also a back pack,,! When Jon and I took my wifes urn back to her birth place in Nort Dakota, I seen a lot of people that were using Backpacks but I don;t remember seeing any with BOTH,,,? Guess I'd better check to make sure. I've packed and repacked,,and just cannot get all my chit in that Carry-on bag,,but a carry-on AND a backpack would save the day,,,!!! ![]() What do you do for work to have to fly so much? My last three years with my company , I also had to do a lot of flying, mostly commercial and some on the company plane. Then,,after retiring from them, I went to work for BP America in the Shreveport and longview areas, I flew so much for them that I accumulated enough points to be able to take the wife and I to Reno and Nashville on their dime,,,,,,Do the majors still have them free points,??

Joe, I work in the Animal Health industry selling Pet Medication into all the major Retailers like Walmart, Amazon, 1800Petmeds, Petsmart, Petco, Chewy.com, etc, etc. Pre-pandemic wasn't unusual to be on a plane once a week and sometimes maybe 2-3 different trips within a week. Things slowed way down now in pandemic and post-pandemic. All the airlines have those point programs. I've used mine alot....once flew 12 people roundtrip from KC to Los Angeles, for free, to attend a wedding....the flight was cheap and I had alot of points! On Southwest, my old lady....um, um, the loving wife, flys free with me anytime I'm flying but she's usually glad to see me go out an make a livin without her!
On that luggage, those carry-ons are ok but if it were me and not in a huge hurry I'd check that sucker and let those baggage fellas toss it around for ya. Sure is alot more relaxin to walk through the airport with something you can put under seat and not have to arm wrestle for overhead bin space when you get on. Just mosey over to the luggage belt when you land and pick it up/ doesn't take that much more time. If I don't need to hit the ground running, I check it in a heatbeat! Enjoy your trip and don't be flirtin with those cute young flight attendants.....at our age you'll get the heart attack for sure! And you don't even need to flirt to get a second helpin of coffee!
