I got a new rear main seal for my c. It appears to be a felt seal and my question is? Does the seal have to be installed after soaking in oil or put in dry and then soaked with oil?

I just replaced a clutch in my B that was oil soaked from a leaking cork rear main seal.I put it in dry and soaked it with oil after. When putting it in the slot it takes some fringer pressing to get it there.Once it is almost in it might appear to be a bit to much, might need to removed and try again but it will fit.
