Off topic Gehl baler question

I fixed this issue on my Gehl by replacing it with a John Deere!!!!  And before you say I spent big $$$, last year I spend over $1000 on all new belts for the Gehl which did NOTHING to help, and I spent $1200 on the JD baler!  For once in a blue moon, I guess I got a little lucky, though now trying to get a bearing replaced on the JD.

The bottom table belt is the smooth style as are all the other belts. No textured belts. Had the same problem on an old worn out 1500 before. That baler took a slow boat to China. Dad's original 1500 he bought when it was fairly new didn't give trouble until she was well worn out. He custom baled for years with it. This 1600 was bought new by a guy who's dead now but he had a small farm and the baler really hasn't seen that many bales. I think I'll try starting the bale with the tail gate ever so slightly open then after it starts a bale I'll hit the lever to close it tight. That should tell me if the belts need slack when starting a new bale. Then, if so, I'll have to figure out how to keep the belts slightly slack to begin a bale without fooling around with the hydraulic lever.

Mine is a 1600 but Dad never had trouble with his first 1500 which is pretty much the same baler. The second 1500 was shot when he bought it so it was never good but this 1600 has seen very little hay in comparison.
