We are having trouble with a Le Roi Generator the neighbor has the adjustable drive cup on the WICO mag stripped and caused it to not run so we swapped on a fairbanks off of a wc but can not get it advanced enough. Are these engines different or is the timming gear wrong and that is why it had the adjustable drive cup.
Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the off color post,
Denis

Sounds like a "C" style Wico Mag that's on the LeRoi. You have to be careful swapping over impulse and drive parts from different mfr's. Lag angle comes into view here, and not all Mag and Mag parts are interchangeable. The Wico "C" could be used on quite a few applications with its adjustable lag angle feature, but if the adjustable impulse is bad, you need to replace it with the same type impulse so you can get the engine timing back correctly and know that your drive components are correct. You'll do more damage than good here... HTH

It is a XH-2500 WICO and we swapped on a Fairbanks Morse FM-J4 of of a WC I figured that the mag should work but now I think that the timing gear is off and that is why they put on a adjustable timing mag. we have it fully advanced and we are about 10 degrees ATDC and we need to be 30 degrees BTDC if we move the wires 1 hole counter clockwise and tilt the mag toward the block to fully retard it would we be in the ball park.
Thanks again,
Denis
