I may be wrong but I think MTD now owns DR.  MTD quality is all over the place to pretty good to nearly scrape quality.  I suspect the DR is higher quality.  List price is pretty high as I remember.

I've been to their website and could download manuals, etc. Enough info to make my own at a fraction of their 'list' price. The stuff looks reasonably well built though.
Unless you get it for 1/3 of list and really could use it( or resell) I'd pass.

I have a 17hp walk behind brush mower. All I can say is that considering everything we made that mower do I am very impressed, almost impossible to stop. They are somewhat over priced but to me worth the money!
Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK!

I've looked at them hard several times but just couldn't pull the trigger as the price seemed over the top.  I decided that I just didn't need something that would be used seldom by me.  Would be nice but price kept me away.  I would have pulled that trigger at a 50% discount.

Biggest thing to think about is if they are a closeout item they are probably sold as is without factory warranty. When paying retail, that is one of the things you are buying along with the machine, so I tend to agree with the 1/3 of retail if this is indeed the case. Good luck in your purchase. I think if you are looking for one of the pull behind mowers, and you think you will use the cart, then agree on a price and enjoy.

50% of retail is typical wholesale discount in many industries..........
