Well I drove this baby home from an auction yesterday, 83' 8030 PS, 2900 hours, one owners, local tractor to our area. Needs a few things, AC hasn't worked for awhile, and needs a cab kit. Other than that she's pretty clean.

Plan to change all fluids filters, etc and probably get a AC conversion kit from AP Air.

What else should be looked at or checked before we put er to work? Thanks.

Wow, very nice and low hours to boot. Not an early one,the steps give it away. But not late enough to have the KHD badging either. Also does not have the Peace of mind decal on the door that some of them had.

I could see that tractor pulling a 12 row planter or a rotary discbine. It would be nice sitting in the cab

Yeah, main use is going to be in front of a Kinze 3500 8/15 planter.

Very nice, had one for years, good unit. Sold mine a few years ago after I quit farming. Is it new enough to have the throttle in the side counsel? Mine was early so had throttle by side of steering wheel.

Congrats on getting that nice 8030.  The years have gone by, and there aren't many nice ones like that left.

In about 1984 or 1985, Allis had a round decal on the lower door that signified that they had a 5 year power train warranty. I think it was gold colored and about the size of a softball. It said something about Peace of mind. I think that all of the 8000 series had that for awhile. Just a sales promotion and I don't know if it even lasted a year. My details could be a little off on this, perhaps others can add more.

I have seen them on the 6000s as well.  However, mine is a 1985 after Deutz bought out AC - I guess they didn't want that sticker on there!

Make sure you have enough air in the Armstrong tires. ( Inner rears)

They have a weak sidewall and after 35 years, they will be the first to go.   Pinching the tubes and losing the fluid, rusting the rims, etc.

It looks good though!

Auction was in Ottawa County, NW Ohio. The same owner also had an all original 180 that was just as clean, 3800 hours, that sold for $8,500.

I noticed this sticker by the oil dipstick last night. I thought it was pretty cool. Our 81' 7080 has a similar sticker as well.

That's the decal that I was referring to. I forgot that it was three year and not five. That warranty was maybe for the whole tractor and not just the power train?
