in crankcase oil on 190XT. I was speaking with an old time AC man today and he noted once on one of his several 190XT's he had diesel getting into his oil. He sent the injector pump out for a rebuild and when it came back and he ran it...same thing. He called the overhaul shop and they told him don't look at the pump; to take valve cover off and fix the bent pushrod. He said it ran so good he thought the guy was crazy for suggesting that, but he did just that and sure enough the [or a] pushrod was really bent. He replaced it and that was the end of the fuel in oil problem. Just thought I'd share. Cheers, Dana

have seen that many times. As a fuel injection shop, we get the repeat customer complaining about fuel in oil, they always think it's something in that there injector pump thingy! Tell them it's a bad nozzle or valve train problem. Fuel is being injected into that cylinder, but not firing to burn the fuel, so it runs down past the rings into the crank-case. The roosa cup seals do get rolled upon installation by our customers quite often though.

Ill second that, I overhauled a 4020 one time for a customer, evidently it broke a rocker arm hold down (aluminum) on a exhaust valve shortly after he got it back. It was missing , so he called the shop, I went out and found the broken hold down and the crankcase was overfull with diesel fuel. replaced the broken hold down, adjusted the valve, change oil and filter, never saw it again-good!!! |
