These people that miss lead buyers into a thinking they are getting a WD45 are just crooks and liars if they know its not a 45. Such a shame you got lied to 57 on the year and model. As said above straight shifter is a dead give away, smaller carb also. Serial numbers don't lie. If the person knowingly sold it to you and knew the truth then he will pay one day. The thing about these WD series is a lot of parts will interchange with both models. I’m glad your not to upset, I would be so your a better man than I am! Lol. Since now you know you have a WD and your happy with it, enjoy it for what it is. I just bought a 1952 WD NF a few months ago. Wish it was a WF like yours but for the price I got it at I am extremely happy. It’s something about these ole tractors that makes me grin every time fire it up and drive it. She isn’t pretty but fairly straight sheet metal. She will be a good rake tractor and wagon puller. The neatest thing I found one day was a foot throttle from a WD a friend of mine was parting out. Allows me to keep both hands on the wheel and works great.
Enjoy your WD and welcome to the forum. |

Well thanks for the welcome!
Well honestly I was just lookin for an affordable option that I could pay cash money and put to work immediately. I do truly believe that this ole boy we bought it from wouldn’t no a wd45 from Adam (At the time All I knew is it ain’t JD green and it ain’t made in China! Which was plenty for me lol) I think he was just goin off what someone told him it was. He had bought to put in a drive way and that was all. I was only bummed because I thought I had the biggest baddest WD and newest ever made. Last year 57 and the 226 engine My dad has a 1950 Chevy Deluxe so I’m pumped to have a matchin Year tractor now! Maybe a WD45 Clone project will be in the works 10or so years down the line. Like doin a Camaro SS Clone typa thing. |

Welcome to the best tractor site on the net!! NF is narrow front and WF is wide front--describes type of front wheel set up. Although WF is also a model of Allis tractor like WC or WD

Hey there Chris
I’m pickin up the head tomorrow from machine shop. Everything checked out. Droppin a cuple hundred bucks for the valve job and gettin my new ring gear set on the flywheel. I’m hopin after work tomorrow I’ll get to lay down a coat of paint if weather cooperates. I gotta clean her off good first as the cats have ran there muddy paws all over my prime job! Need to order an engine gasket set tomorrow. I reckon I’ll try Napa before I go lookin on the Internet. Hopefully they can get me one on Saturday and I can slap the head on and reassemble. So yers all in parts huh. Did ya buy it that way or tear it down? |

57,
Your moving right along on the WD project! I think someone said that NAPA may be able to get that gasket kit for you. I did not try them. I had to go to about 450 F for the new ring gear to drop on the flywheel. My tractor has been a two year project. It was mostly complete when I bought it. I hope its back together by mid July!:) Regards, Chris

57,
Not sure how far your going on your engine. But my very uneducated guess is that the one odd piston ran for years and may run and preform just fine. Again not a expert on these. And maybe the folks that put that in there actually knew what they were doing and were saving the original owner some money? Did the tractor smoke any? Just typing out loud on this end! Glad you got your gasket kit. I used the copper spray for my head gasket, seemed to work ok so far! Looking good! Loader would be nice to have some days around here too! Regards, Chris
