Recently moved after 25 years in one spot so I've gotten several surprises lately.  Went to wire in my air compressor, need 6ft of 1/2" flexible, steel conduit, Lowe's keeps it locked up it's so expensive, Menard's has 25ft for $48 or 50ft for $58, I don't think I paid that much sealtite the last time I bought it.

you'ld cry if you knew what I hauled to scrap yard just to  get out of my old shop...

WHY would ketchup be so pricey ??
here, 'normal' bottle is $3.29 'noname'(heinze in disguise...)

here, 2 loaves of whole wheat bread = $4
here, 1Kg ( 2,2#) of smoooth peanut butter = $4
so WHY is bread so dang pricey ? farmer ain't getting much for his wheat ! peanuts come from somewhere NOT Canada, HAS to cost more to make PB doesn't it ??

It's everything! Problem is not just the increase on one thing it's how it affects other things. Just had insurance review increases (oh the value is higher) Taxes on properties same thing. So what are the real increases?

New combine 40% increase in 3 years for the same model with the same options. Used 3 year old combines listed for around what they cost new. New tires for my wife's truck $2227.95 installed. A new pressure pump for my daughter's house, (because the pos space heater quit at -42), $297. Shall I go on? Wouldn't be so bad if the quality went up with the price but no, more like the opposite. Take the space heater for example it gets replaced at least once per year. Have had all sorts of brands and priced ones and they are all ____ junk!!!! Sorry for the rant, had a rough night/morning.

Was digging in the lp gas line to the shop, (18ft), had to use my late father-in-laws typical half repaired spade. Handle somewhat fit and bolted in, I tried to take it easy but it gave out and my sharp shooter was at the old house. Was at the farm supply in town so thought what the heck, I’d pick up another, $39.99 for a spade, so I finished the job with a pick and a set of jobbers. Brought my old spade home, cleaned and hung It up. Sure make digging fish in worms expensive.

Met up with a young ambitious man from Cuba, making a living buying surplus/freight damaged pallets and selling pieces online.  Got my flex conduit and some extra should I need it.

well, with a government that spends WAY beyond it's means, at the same time printing money.......that dollar you had in your pocket five years ago should have increased in value, but in reality, is worth less (as in buying power) because there are more of them floating around. sad part is, with a government as corrupt as we currently have, I'm not sure we can recover, crocked elections, last two generations brain washed by socialists, secondary education system completly (or nearly so) corrupted with socialism, and our Creator relegated to the warmup bench..................
I am still confident of this;

Speaking of sticker shock we just received our property tax notices and am glad I was sitting down. I don't know about other states but Ohio re-evaluates property every 3 years. Well the tax on our vacant piece of property in one county went up about 109%, about half tillable. The property where we live in an adjacent county up about 68%. About 90% tillable. That seems to be a bit more than the guberment says inflation is. Wondering if any others here have similar experience.

Ours last year as ours is recalculated annually went up 100%, sad but is hitting everywhere.  State is trying to pass Cap on Property Taxes for those above 65 or Retired due to Health or other issues over 55.  Would not allow increases ever again on those properties in those hands.

How do you say the money you have is losing value every day you do not spend it .
Now when you sell something , you are suppose to pay taxes on it when sold . Also there is a sales tax the buyer needs to pay .
Your suppose to pay sales tax on items you buy in another state if and when you bring them to your home state .
So bad as when wife was dong show sales of her ceramics , had to have a tax number to even qualify for a spot for a table .
If you tuck a $100 away for a rainy day - it might be worth $70 or even less later on.

Home and land values have shot through the roof and yes, the reason is the gubmint needs more money.  Values go up and so do the taxes....  Let's print more and more and more.....never ends.  How many trillion are we in debt?  We need us a real French Revolution.....
