Did anyone see or buy from ebay the items listed as NOS WD-45 front mud shields? About a week ago. I never heard of such an item before. The ad said they were "super rare" but showed a page from a parts book listing the part numbers. Kind of wish I'd bid more for them. Went for $81.97 plus freight. Has anyone on here ever had or seen such an item. I can't figure out how or to what they were attached.

ac hunter. When I was a kid at home in the 1950's my dad had the scrapers on a WD and a C. I do not know how they were attached to the WD but the C had two ubolts that held them to front pedestal. They are kinda rare. I still have that C I drove as a kid. It has the scrapers on it and don't know how many people has tried to buy them. Have a good day. Gary

All WD45 tractors (not on wide fronts) with factory power steering had them, I have two WD45's with them and right now two in the shop WD45 Diesel with them on too. not "super rare" just not on all WD45 tractors. held on with two spring loaded pins.
Gas and Diesel shields are not the same.
They are on power steering narrow front or single fronts to keep the mod/rocks out of crankshaft pulley. And yes I know where they went, no they are not for-sale. I didn't buy them. Please don't ask who got them, I can't tell on himWink.

Is this what you're talking about Don? My 45 is a 1954, so the PS was added and it never had these things.

Well that's not it, that's a lower radiator shield for WC/WD tractors with a mounted corn picker.

So they would be kinda like the mud shield under the D17 narrow front, but in 2 pieces?

Those are the ones. So do they bolt on under the frame rails to keep mud away from the pulley on the end of the crankshaft and radiator?  You would be getting into some serious mud if that is the case.

The one you show above is the right one for WD/WD45, it's just the one piece, they not two pieces. They are held on with two spring loaded flat sided pins that go through the slots like in the pic above and there are two punched tabs in the L shaped side in the pic you can't see that fit's in the two holes in the front engine mount holes that are used to hold a wide front end back brace on. The WD45 shield are a piece of cake to take down, just pull down and turn the two spring-loaded flat pins a 1/4 turn then drop the front part down and the pull the shield forward a 1" or 2" and out it comes.Smile

So, it appears the seller thought they came as a set of two......I think the purchaser got a real deal.........two for the price of one.

Thanks Chad I don't have pics of the shields. It's funny the ease of removing the shield off a WD45 gas tractor compared to removing one off the same tractor with the Diesel engine is.

I'd still like to see pics of it on the tractor as I've never seen one either.  I'm still scratching my head trying to figure it all out!

If you ever ran a "naked" narrow front in the goo-ball mud, you'd understand the need for the mud shield. You can destroy a fan belt sooner than you think.
