some additions to an already VERY AC Lionel railroad!,,just wish I could come up with die cast 1/46 scale WD45's for flat car loads!

I'm a Lionel guy too.
I had absolutely no idea that LTI re-issued the 6519. What is the car number, just in case I want to shop for one?
I still haven't found a 6519 yet.
Looks like you are running Gargraves track....very nice!!!!!
BTW, have you made any AC advertisements for your Lionel billboards?
I just picked up a working KW transformer, and cannot wait to get my layout started. What are you powering your layout with?

Clovis,,I'm runnin' a NEW ZW with 4 180 watt packs,,been thinking about a TPC 400 though.
I am a FULL command railroad but LOVE my post war Lionel stuff and run them too!
There have been several AC condenser cars re released during the LTI years in the 80's!
They are reddily available from dealers,,(I got mine CHEEP on EBAY) $10.00- $20.00
The ONLY one I don't have is the yellow vertion,,and it'll be coming soon!
The orange car I posted a pic here is an original from 1961 or 2,,(the year I was born,,,"62"),,but since I own a 53 WD and a 55 WD45,,,I'd REALLY like to get my hands on some die cast 1/46 scale tractors to put on flat cars!!!

Cool!!!
I had no idea that the AC car had been reproduced so many times!!! I love the postwar stuff so much that I rarely shop for MPC or later stuff.
How do you like your new ZW?
I'd still like to have a postwar ZW. Dad has two of them, and said I could have the second one if I'll buy a handle and a roller.
I've got to get my benchwork started. So much to do, and so little time!!!!
I think my layout will be 4 x 16, but I could easily go 5 x 21. Do you think that going 5 feet wide would be a mistake, especially without an access hole to reach the back of the track?

I've GOT rollers,,,let me look,,,MAY have a handle too!
The new ZW is nice,,but,,,,with the command stuff in it,,it takes SOME gettin use to as to how it behaves whan you have a short.
AND you have to program it too if you're a command guy,,no big deal,but the instructions were written by a collage kid,,you can tell,,need to just keep things in laymans trems really.
Here's some pics of my old layout,,now I'm rebuilding and putting Atlas track down this time.
I've ran on other layouts with it and solid rail is the NUTZ to work with and run on!

That Big Boy is awesome! It's been a while back on RFDTV that they had a trains show. After the U.P. had restored one of those Big Boys, and it was out on tour, it got called up to help push a train over the Wasatch that a break down. Those big steemers are just too cool.

Larry, you have a neat layout and collection!! We are just in the process of putting a model railroad club together in our retirement community where we now live in Mesa. I am not a railroad collector, but got involved because I thought it would be fun to help with the construction of the layouts. I have built 5 bridges so far, and planned to use brass but made them of wood given we do not have a permanent room as yet. We are negoiating for a room that is 24 X 64. The first table we built is 8 X 18 for an O gauge layout. I found 5 flat cars and one condenser car on ebay a few days ago so while here in IA for the National Farm Toy show I bought three D-21's and 7 D-19's in 1/43 for the start of a AC train load. We are running two track and using DCC. Do you know where the real condensers were used??

Armond,,,It's my theropy!,,between that,,and my tractors (AND living close to Dale Haymaker too,,) it gives me a brief escape to just relax and enjoy the moment!
unit3 I agree!,,,and I put a train up under the tree (Lionel Polar express) every year too!

i work for a guy who is a vender for mth and lionel and lionel has reproduced many of the old lines including the allis chalmers cars. my boss helps locate old lionel and also carrys new stuff, the best way to reach him is sevin one six six five two five seven one eight... sorry my phone would not let me put the numbers in

I used to have one of the earlier AC cars, but let it go a while back. In the future I do plan on building a layout (HO or N, I'm not sure yet). It will be modeled after New York centrals Cairo line thru Illinois, and Illinois Central Gulfs PD&E line (Peoria Decatur and Evansville).

Just remember if you put WD-45's on flat cars you will need at least 8. That's how we got them.

Day-yam! Your pics look like your having way to much fun. NICE! OK, I guess I'm jealous. All I had was a 4x8 layout and no place to really set it up at. a Lionel 2-4-2 and a Marx streamliner like your silver/red/yellow unit, and cheap track

Bill, If I could go back in time, I would want to go to the train yard in Syracuse, NY where My Dad would pick-up brand new WD-45's for the family dealership.

Clovis,,those are the 1993 vertion that came out with Command and railsounds.
I also have a set of 2343's made in 1955, AND I have an "A-B-A" set of NYC 2333's WITH the aluminum passenger cars!

KY,,it depends on the cars condition, and if you have the original box.
"Like new" condition with brake stands NOT broken and wires on the load?,,I've seen sell for $70.00+,,MOST of them the brake stands are broken off,,with no box,,those are selling for $10.00 to $20.00

Great layout. It must be nice to have that much room. I have a 5' X 26' layout with all postwar trains on it. I have my original Lionel from 39 and one that we bought in the early 50's #681. I also have the 2343 set with the alum cars. I like to repair them, so I buy a lot on ebay that don't run. I try to keep them original with only a few custom paint jobs. Like you said, it's theropy. Great when it's too cold to work on the tractors, Bob
