now...i know ya'll don't like Massey's on here...but...was watching utube video's last night, saw a Massey plowing, it was pushing 6 bottoms, and pulling 12-14 bottoms, and it was a 2-wh drive tractor! others had same make of plows and they were roll-over plows, but were pulled by 4x4 tractors of dif makes! i just thought it was pretty impresive! i never seen a plow that you pushed ahead of the tractor before!

yeah...that's a roll over plow in that vid...i watched it too, the other was a 2-wh drive with duals, but it wasn't a roll over plow. even so, it's still impressive, as the plow is still going deeper than what is already tilled. i'll try to find it again....but ussually when i see something once, and try to re-find it....i can't! pffft! i was also impressed with a 4x4 tractor made overseas, i can't remember how to spell the name, but if you google/bing "k700 tractor" you'll see it! and there are vids on it pulling a manmouth mounted plow like 8-9 bottoms. didn't look like it was even working it! looked kinda like an old OshKosh truck with tractor tires!

RF...i just watched the vid you posted, it isn't the same one i watched, as i didn't see the re-fueling or night plowing in what i watched, but was same type of ground. sure wouldn't plug up!! i ussually always plug up 2-3 times doing corn stalks with my 6 bottom.

A hectacre equals 2.471 acres so 251,376 hectacres equals 621,150.096 acres

1 hectare = 2.47105381 acres
So, 251,376 hectacres x 2.47105381 = 621,163.62 acres
Or 251.376 hectacres x 2.47105381 = 621.16362 acres
Probably the second answer. Edited by Protrucker - 02 Mar 2012 at 10:34pm |

They must have plowed the same ground over and over again. 621,000 acres doesn't seem right in 24 hours. That's a huge area to run over in that time even at that fast speed.

The use of a comma as a decimal separator is common in several European countries. So it would be 251.376 hectares X 2.471 acres = 621.15 acres.

That number does seem awful large.
I know that it seems like metric measurements use comma's where we use decimal points. I never what is really right with those conversions.

I don't think Massey makes a plow so I doubt they could win plowing competitions. It's been awhile since I checked but Kverneland used to win them a lot. Kverneland was recently bought by Kubota.

That Massey 8280 is the same as an Agco DT-225. I have heard that these tractors are juiced up for these plowing competitions. I think Agco won it again with a challenger tracked tractor a couple of years ago.

How can we hate the Allis Gleaner company? It's the current bone headed idiots in controll that we don't like. LOL So a red DT225 plowed a little under a section with no crop residue and a specially built pair of plows, and with a pit crew that would that would put Indy or NASCAR to shame. What does this have to do with the real world?
