Menard's store visit

Has everybody's store been revamped. The one I support seems to be done. They added on to the back and moved the order desk clear to the back of the store. I never got back to the order desk tonight. Its as far away from the check out counter as you can get. It looks quite a bit larger now. Looks like I could walk several miles in the "isles". I like to go there early in the mornings, far less people there, but not so easy to find a forklift operator, they seem to be unloading semis or loading their commercial customers. Lots more tools, lots of everyday household stuff too. Not sure I like that part of it. It must be working, a good pal of mine, in charge if all maintaince, there tells me it is the #2 store in sales volume. Old gal and I both like spending time there.   

the store we go to the order desk is off to the side of the check outs. they have their own corner. the big stores do what Tom is talking about so they hope to have their customers do impulse buying, everyone has to pass by the stuff and Menards hopes they will grab something extra on their way past.

The Menards in Mason City moved the contractors desk to the back of the store plus a lot of rearranging recently. Ya would have thought they would print out some maps to show were the new locations of things are.

I used the 11% rebate to round out my gearwrench set. Bought the 13/16" through 1 1/4", and the rebate covered the cost of the biggest wrench. Other than that, I usually shop at Fleet Farm, since it started right here in town.

Our Manards you unload cart clerk runs it threw register and you bag, and the 11% discount is only good to be mailed in and then you have to go back there to spend the coupon. I like Lowe's where I get my 10% military discount taken off the purchase.

closest Menards to us is about an hour away.. Daughter lives 10 minutes from them.. She bought a house and we remodeled the kitchen, wood floor , some electrical, bath, few cabinets..... spent about $5000. there in one year... Got over $500. back on the 11%... they have it about 1 week out of the month, just pick the right week. You get a check in the mail to use the next time you visit. Works great if your going every couple weeks.

My wife was creeping on face book last night. (I don't ever go on there). She said that the oldest son posted on there, the 3 loves of his life; His wife, his son, and Menard's. I guess it's safe to say that he likes Menard's. Guess his mother and I are a little farther down the list. At least his wife and kid were higher on the list than Menard's. Darrel

SHEESH   Osb sheeting is suppose to be about 1/8" smaller for spacing.  On most sheets it will say "sized for spacing", thus allowing for expansion and contraction with weather conditions. When nailing it on, you will leave a slight gap, then nail.

Well, I never bothered to use particle board/ chipboard/ strandboard/ OSB sheathing because of a simple fact of when that material gets wet for any amount of time, it will expand... But I did not realise that this stuff would expand and shrink 1/8th inch... Just got off the phone with the fellow that had the issues with Menards and he said he spent 10 minutes at a local lumber yard and they had the full 4x8 sheets in stock... and was delivered at no extra cost... the sheets were of OSB were almost identical except for the 1/8th inch diamension... madein the same mill and had the same type of markings and same green edge  and his new sheeting was dated just 1 month newer.
  And the beauty of it all, it was all full 4x8 and fit up nice and tight and the only cuts he made were for the electrical outlets. He put up 18 sheets the first night and dealt with NO GAPS. When he is done, he will paint these walls like he did when putting OSB on his first garage wall some 20 years ago... and NEVER had any problems with it. 
 I think menards lost a customer who would spend several thousands of dollars with them... and will shop the local yard from now on.

My Menards only has 1 electric cart and it is never available. I avoid going there in the winter. I have my own electric unit I can use in the summer. It's one that goes on a carrier on the back of the van. I can drive up on it.

I have filled out those forms at customer counter a few times already. I figure they just need some older person to drop in the middle of the store first.
