See mecum has George's tractor collection listed for sale in mid July. Anyone know why he is selling the collection?

It's a shame that he needs to sell the entire collection of AC stuff. Knew that the Allis Chalmers club of Ontario was planning a trip to visit his collection in April. Buddy of mine offered me a chance to go see the collection in person, but I turned it down. Not sure if that trip will go ahead still or not.

Yup. Costs a lot of money to broadcast on RFD-TV.

Whats the deal with the front of that 440? Is it added on or just a different steiger painted to look like a 440?

Interesting, I saw another like it on tractor house before but didn't think it was a real 440. It's really ugly.

If you're in the aggregate business EPA says you have to keep the lime dust down to a certain level. Their call. And the sad thing is, there are no health risks to the lime. but of course it is inconvenient to the city bots. Gets their shiny black 4X4 dusty. Such a shame.

George is NOT in trouble. Yes he is frustrated. Many reasons for the sale. Most personal.
He and I have been talking about it for a year.

All it takes is one inspector with a burr up his behind to cause you trouble. I have personally seen an inspection where the inspector is covering for someone who is off that day and he is PO'd because he has to cover the other guys area so he is going to find something so the owner is upset and then the regular inspector is upset because he has to follow up to be sure that it is corrected. Been there, done that.

Just looking at the auction photo posted on mecum's auction site of Georges AC auction, and noticed a particular AC 7580. What's the deal with the black background with white numbering decal? I have never seen an AC 7580 like that one before.

Sort of a funny story. He is only about 2 hrs from me. Regional contact, a program on the local Ottawa tv station did a tour one time. The reporter gingerly asked him what would happen to the collection on his passing? He said the funeral will be at 1000 and the auction will start at 200!

I think George stole that line from Bob Vanderploeg. Still a good one! I saw the TV clip. George bought several tractors from Bob in Bellingham WA.
