It has taken me a little while to get on here to post this for everyone. I'm not sure if anybody on here actually knew him or not but I still wanted to let you all know that the AC universe lost a great fan on June 14th when my father LeRoy Lambert in NY passed away. He farmed with and loved his AC tractors and equipment and toys too. He lived with diabetes for 30 years, fought foot ulcers and amputations for about 10 years, and dealt with dialysis for the last 7 years. The final straw was the diagnosis of leukemia in late May after getting admitted to the hospital following a short illness which was due to his extremely low blood counts. His overall health ruled out any chemo or radiation treatments which they said would only have given him a few more months at best anyway. He continued dialysis and then also daily transfusions of blood products until family and friends could make it to see him 1 more time. He stopped all this except for comfort care on June 5th and let nature take its course. We had a nice period of joking around and story telling with him and all the people that came to see him. He was still himself, albeit more tired, right up until the very end. We left his bedside in the nursing home by 10pm that night so he could get to sleep and rest. We got the phone call just a little later that he had passed away in his sleep just after 11pm. We have all taken comfort in the fact that he is whole once again and no longer suffering from anything.
I would like to ask for prayers though for my 3 children (16,14,11) at this time. Prior to having lost a Grandpa (my Dad) this year (just 3 days short of Father's Day), they also lost a Grandma (my MIL) this year as well (on Mother's Day no less). They seem to be handling it well and I'd like to keep it that way. THANKS!
A little humor to end this post with. You all know how us AC guys claim to bleed orange. Well, Dad was no different and claimed this himself repeatedly which was why my brother cracked up laughing 1 day at the hospital upon witnessing my Dad actually getting his transfusion that day. He then had to share this story with the rest of us. You see, Dad was not getting whole blood transfusions, just the blood products that he needed (mostly platelets). As a result of this and how they process said blood products, the bag of fluid being hung on his IV pole that day actually had a distinctive orange color.

Oh, I ain't going anywhere. I already have Grandpa's WD and WD45 from his NY farm here in KY with me. Dad gave them to me 3 years ago when he could no longer do anything with them. Thankfully, Dad's 190XT in NY will rejoin her 2 older sisters just as soon as I am able to afford the transport cost to do so. The rest of the family was already looking to sell her but Dad stepped in and said she was mine if I was willing to keep the 3 of them together. So, until I die, that is where they shall be!

Lionel, so sorry for your loss. But he is in a better place like you said.
My dad was 83 when he passed and he had been on dialysis for about 7 years too. That is the prognosis for most, 7 years. I told the others I didn't know how dad could take it that long three times a week. and I don't want to go through anything like that. He passed on in the early hours of Sept. 16 2000 and ten years later within 17 hours, mom passed away on September 15, at about 12:30 pm, her favorite time for listening to Paul Harvey and the rest of the story.
Stuff like that you won't forget. and your children won't forget them either when you start telling the stories you have stuck away in your mind and heart.
May Peace be with you and your family.

Don't worry about the kids Lionel, they'll cope and have some fond memories.  Sometime you need to dig into your memory and tell them about some of the the GREAT and/or Funny things that you lived through with him.  That'll bring back some memories of their own that they cherish.  You'll be surprised.
I lost my dad back in 83 when he was only 57.  He had colon cancer that he waited too long on to go to the doctor for.  Yep, you need to have a physical and get checked out.  As strong as we are, you never know.
He is in a better place and smiling down on you and yours.  My condolences and prayers go out to you and your entire family.  Take good care of HIS orange.

Prayers for your family Lionel, the suffering is gone. My father had a bad heart valve most of his life from romanic fever, cancer got him when he was only 68 in 1992, the heart valve had healed from the meds. After watching him suffer from the cancer, it settled in his back, it was a relief to see him not suffer any more. Think about him a lot watch over us.
