Can’t you just screw a breather onto a normal cylinder?

I have an old allis sitting on a shelf. No hoses and i have no idea if it works

Just use a regular cylinder with a breather in one port. They work just fine. Done for years with no issues. Now, I know some will say it will "explode" a regular cylinder, but I'm just talking from my experience.

Have to have very good cylinder plunger seals or it makes a great big mess when fluid leaks into the vented side and sprays out the vent.
