Hello all,
New tractor, new member. I recently found a 1941 B with a snow plow and a mower, which followed me home. I was wondering where is the best place to find operator and shop manuals for the mower? The mower is a sickle bar belly mount type with a 5 foot bar and is not attached. I believe I have all the parts and would like to mount the mower and possibly even mow with it. I actually bought the tractor to use for raking and tedding hay. Any info appreciated.

If you were lucky enough to get a Myers Snow plow you can go to their web site. Sounds like you have a very good purchase.
Remember, the sickle bar mower is a very high maintenance and dangerous implement. Not so much danger from working with it but when you put the blade into the transport position. Be certain you keep your fingers out of the guards cause the blade had a tendency to slide down. If your fingers are there you may well get damage. Check to be sure you have a pitman rod. If you have the original great, if not then ask someone to give you the measurements so the timing of the cut will be good. Don't mean to scare you cause we sure sold an awful lot of B's with sickle bar mowers and they worked fine. In fact, it was the only one we had in the 30's and 40's. I think the rotary mower came around in the 50's. In any event you have a very dependable and adaptable tractor. Take good care of my favorate. If you need any assistance do not hesitate to ask. My fellow members and I are most helpful and understanding. Sorry I got sooo windy but I would like to see you get a good start with your new project. Good Luck! Bill Long |
