I picked this M&W dyno up this weekend. Needs a litle paint, and got the manual with it. I thought i would share some pictures.

Used one of those at our local BOCES school when I was in highschool. You can really make a tractor talk with one of those! Make sure you have the water hooked to her as they can get very hot!

My boss bought one of those at a sale several years ago. He brought it to the shop to "fix" and we found all the clutch plates burned up and a leak in the tank. He had a guy fab up a frame with a flat pulley on it so we can run it with a flat belt. It works good for our show if someone wants to dyno his Rumley Oil Pull or Steam engine.

How does the dyno work? Is it a pump that is deadheaded? Always heard of them, but have never seen one.................O_O

This dyno measures up to 90 to 100 HP. I don't know how to run it. My buddy has run a couple at different ac dealerships. So, I'll be learning this summer when the crops are in. The gentleman that i got it off of said it works great. He upgrated to a 400 or 450 HP dyno. I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with it.

Osage, basically there are a stack of brake pads with disc's in between. You crank the brakes tighter to make the tractor work harder. Everything is emersed in water and the water flows through to keep things cool.

I think the clutches are in oil and the oil runs through a cooler with the water running through it.

Great find Bryan. I have one just like it except mine is factory remanufactured. There are no clutches in that model. The handwheel in the front restricts the oil flow from the pump, producing more resistance. The water flows through a heat exchanger submergerd in the oil reservoir.

Chad is right on on how that model works, basically as the turn down the wheel you dead head the pump and pressure increases, since the pump is constant volume( displacement in gpm) , you measure the pressure, then calculate the horsepower from the pressure and flow, this is wha the little chart that is witht hem does., the water is just used to cool the oil

I bought a used P 400 about 20 years ago. Great to have around. Measures 240 hp @ 1000 rpm pto. We rest the loader bucket on the one wheel when were run at the high end. I've seen the needle around the bottom more than once.
