Guys this Saturday an old pal of mine is having a farm sale. He never got out of the 1950/1960's era of farming. He still picked all his corn in the ear with a WD45 and mounted New Idea picker. Up till about 5 years ago he was combining his beans with a 72 AC combine. He still planted his corn with a 494A JD planter. Up till a couple of years ago he still baled hay with his roto baler. He never took the picker off the 45. His main tractors were a WD with loader, and a 1961 830 Case. I do not see his WC listed. It must have been his favorite tractor, he was always driving it on the road. May bee the kids are keeping it. Web site www.exchangeline.com/auctions His name is Bob Simon. Roy Foley/Tom Perkins are the auctioneers. Bob was head of the Sheep producers for probably 30 years. Guys wanting to buy ear corn would drop off their wagons and Bob would pick them full. Unlike today's young folks Bob was never afraid of work. I don't think he ever owned 1 acre of farm ground, always rented off the same woman who, I was told, lived in Arizona.

sounds like he loved the way he did things. and probably pocketed a lot of $$$, not giving it to the big companies.

Just my opinion here. I feel the world would be a little better off if things were still done that way.
Just my .02 worth.

IHC pu I would have to agree with you. Maybe we wouldn't have a supply problem that we have now.
For as long as I can remember the mags, and ag companies solution to all problems is to produce more and more. Been paying bean check off since the inception and prices are no better than they were 20 years ago.

John. The auctioneer is slow as molasses. And it got hot. My old gal was set up at local farmers market, her heart has gone bad, and she cannot stand heat. I had to leave 1/2 way thru the first hayrack. Sorry I have no figures or pictures.
