We found a RWA for the L3 today. It's all there except for the steering cyl. We checked with AGCO and the cyl is discontinued and not available. First, does anyone have a complete steering cyl for a RWA L3, our book says all M3's and L3's are the same. If not, there was a junk RWA N5 next to the parted out machine that has the RWA, it still has the steering cyl but the drives have been taken. The axle looks very similar to the L3. Would the steering cyl from a RWA N5 fit an L3 RWA? We couldn't measure the ball joint shaft size or get a real accuate measurement on the length. The N5 was 1/2 longer but that might also be because the ball joint is not screwed in as far. We didn't have an L3 cyl there to compare and the machine is 80 miles away. The N5 cyl also appears to be a little bigger in diameter. Is the replacement ball joints the same from N5 to L3, if so it should work. Sorry if this is confussing. Thanks for the input.

Leon - have you looked on-line at the Surplus Center. They have steering cylinders if you can figure out your specs. Mike

Thanks Mike, I did look and didn't see anything with ball joints on the end.

Leon - the ball join end ones are in the regular cylinders...you search by piston diameter and then search thru the list for the length you want...here's a single example...

I did see that style. The cyl on the machines have a tapered shaft ball joint that screws directly into the end of the cyl ends and the mounting holes are tapered. I would like to find the right one or one very close so I don't have to fabricate anything on the machine. I might just have the scrap yard take the cyl off the N5 and try it in the other axle. I was hoping someone with a scrap RWA would have a cyl. I will keep that site though, the prices look reasonable. Thanks Mike. Leon B MO |
