With a WC in the 4500 you have to compete with tractors like this.

In the 3000 class you only have to compete with tractors like this with your WC.

On paper, a D10/12 gives you a much better drawbar/HP ratio. Don't know how well they pull though.

Im enjoying all the advice....listening to much and and now thinking Im going to tweak the WC....Problem is most of you advise going to the 3500 class....very few pulls around here have them so I pretty much have to prep for the 4500 and up....

My boy ( 14 year old)  going to start pulling with my Case 801 next year. It is good to hear all the sugestions. seems like the Oliver's  and Farmall M's are tough to beat.  I noticed that  some of the tractors in the farm class, are far from being farm ready tractors. My brother pulls with a Case SC. Seems when you pull with 50 hp or less keeping waight down and running in the paced class keeps the competion fare. There is a Farmall M north of here. That the person is asking $800 for.  Might go look at it for a puller. AC are expensive and getting hard to come by. Wish I would have kept a few of the ones I owned.
Play the game for more than you can afford to lose... only then will you learn the game.
