Looks like my D19 is positive ground and according to the manual, that's the way the wiring diagram shows it.   Just making sure that this is correct as I am thinking of ordering a petronix ignition for it, and want to make sure I order the right one.  Also, for the gas tractors, did they just use one smaller battery that fit on one side, and the diesels used two, or did the gas tractors use two also?

My D-19 gas is Positive ground. Has a battery tray big enough for two but previous owner of mine only used one so that's all I use. Turns over with power and speed. Starts good.

Had a question related to this; We recently took the battery off of our D19, but can't remember which way it goes back on. You said a positive ground; Is that with a generator or an alternator? We have an alternator on ours, so we only assume that it's a negative ground. Any info would be great.

The posts are different sizes. If you just set each cable on a post, without wrenching on them, you should be able to determine which way it was hooked up.

tractors with alternators are negative ground. If you have an alternator then yours has been switched to negative ground.

The D19 came from the factory 12 volt, positive ground, charged by a generator. If it now has a alternater, 99% chance it is now negative ground.

If it has a generator, be sure to flash the generator to set its polarity to match the battery after connecting the battery and before running the engine.
