Very nice in pictures 4x4 98 Chevy pickup. Wants $1000. Claims was recent passed husbands and causes too much pain. Want's it gone. She is about to deploy and don't want to "store". Says has deal with Ebay to sell. Request phone # and address and will be delivered to me. Send money to Ebay first who will hold it as I have 5 days to check it out or refuse it after it is delivered. If I pass I get money back and they pick up the truck.
This is from FB Marketplace add. Smells fishy to me. How would you verify the Ebay side and would a cashiers check cover me? Let me have it!!!

eBay has some protection if it’s entirely through them.

Don't say where it is but claims in Illinois, so am I. She claims to be at scott air force base. Guess I could ask where so I could go look at it without paying.i think that'll piss her.

She got a little cranky whe wife questioned about whole thing and said this is how it works. Give name address and phone #. Then she contacts delivery service who will bring it here after I send payment to Ebay. I'm wondering how I know the Ebay side is real.

If eBay is handling money as she says, tell her to post truck with buy it now option only for you. Otherwise no protection from eBay and it’s definitely a scam.
Smells like a scam anyway. I’ve bought $100k plus of cars, trucks, Harleys and boats off of eBay with no problems. Go to official eBay site and sign up. Give her your eBay username and not address and phone.

Back 6-8 years ago, there used to be several ads such as this and there was always a relative that was selling the "Ultra NICE SUPER LOW MILAGE VEHICLE for a ridiculous price for the seller. I think Ebay stopped them and those ads just went away. Maybe they have figured another way to succeed with your money,,,,? Like dp7000 is saying,,If the money handling is being 100% done by EBAY,,,it might be OK,,,,? Ir sure is Strange THAT THE SELLER Cannot communicate from their base,,????

Well, SteveM C/IL,,it just sounds too pat,,,,,,,,? My son spent his whole 2 year career with the Air Force in several different AF Bases including two stints in S Korea and I dont think he was ever restricted from communicating to the outside world,,,,? Neither did two Brothers and two cousins,,,just very odd that they used that reason,,Ya know??

Few years back same type deal, picture of truck locally , she had moved to another state . One address was local , but for a car jockey business .
So deal was send money through E-Bay as down payment , then vehicle would be delivered for approval . FULL refund if unsatisfactory - if accepted pay the delivery outfit .
Got a couple e-mails going , before the so called seller decided the SCAM was not working as my DEPOSIT had not been received yet by her .
Offer to come look at the truck and pay at point of sale - well seems truck was already at shippers and was not allowed to see it there , but would send more pictures .
Oh the car jockey lot - RAN A DISCLAIMER - they knew nothing about the person , the truck , or how their name got used in the SCAM .

100% SCAM here's how to see... contact her to get address as you have a friend in the area...she'll hang up contact her for the delivery company....she'll hang up
part of the SCAM is to get VERIFIED information about YOU. when 'they' get enough info ,'they' sell/use that info to make their money....new credit cards, car loans, ???

Phone calls are monitored less than emails by the military, but she would have nothing to worry about on either, if the deal is legit. If she is on/around a military base that truck would sell within a day or so. Something smells on that deal.

If it's through eBay, search eBay for 99 Chevy 4x4 and see if the ad comes up. If not, it's not through eBay

other thin you can do, get Google to locate the pictures !!! You upload on of them and Google scans the net to find 'similar' pictures. If SCAMMER used someone else's picture, the originals will be found.

Nearly ANY 4x4 even of that vintage around STL that Runs drives and licensable is OVER $5000, last about three days in general ads. This is a HUGE SCAM.

She says she "has a deal with Ebay to sell". Did you ever try to get any kind of response from Ebay for anything?
One thing Ebay will not let happen is exchanging email addresses or any kind of contact info. If it's listed with Ebay, they are going to make their fees, no matter what.

IT IS A SCAM! I went through something similar a few years ago. Asked for address and she saw that I am in La Crosse, tole me Rochester, MN. I said that is great as I'd be over that way the next day. She came back with that it'd be going to the Air Force base in Nebraska. i said that would be even better as I have a nephew who is a retired policeman and he lives there. He'd be there to look at it the next day. Well, guess what,,,,,,,I never heard from her again. Oh yeah, it was for a camper....and it was on FB.
